As we see the world becoming more and more unkind every day, it is quite astonishing to find that there are actually people out there who do wonderful things for their fellow man that doesn't get a lot of publicity and the only reward is the self gratification that they are doing something special for a friend.
Xie Xu, an 18 - year old high school student in China has been carrying his best friend, 19 - year old Zhang Chi around the campus on his back for 3 years. Zhang Chi has muscular dystrophy and cannot walk.
Xie carries his best friend Zhang from his dorm to class to class for 200 days out of the year. He also brings him his three meals a day and despite this young man walking all over campus with his best friend on his back, they have managed to remain among the top students in their class. Due to Xie's assistance, Zhang has not missed a single class.
The students, the teachers, and the media all found this story of devoted friendship so inspiring that they have labeled Xie, the school's most beautiful student. As is the case with many Asian kids Xie's humility is unwavering. He kinds of bows his head and smiles when asked to discuss his very humanitarian nature. He just states that Zhang is his friend and he enjoys his company.
Many Americans will probably find this kind of friendship extremely rare and unheard of, but to Xie Xu, it's just another day at school.
