The saga of the death of Freddie Gray, the young African American man who was brutally murdered by 6 policemen, ( 3 whites and 3 Blacks) is now moving on to the next act of this terrible story of what we now know about how all cops feel about Black men and really, Black people in general. How else can you explain all of the previous murders and these are the ones that we know about.
Marilyn J. Mosby, the 35 year old African American and newly elected States Attorney in Baltimore has come out with both barrels blazing while leaving no doubt that she will aggressively pursue justice for Freddie Gray's death. She has announced that she is indicting, for murder and varying other charges, all of the officers that were involved in Freddie's death including the driver of the van in which he was killed.
It is even more difficult to understand that the driver of the van where Freddie was refused medical attention was one of the African American police officers. Your aren't protecting nor servicing when you sit and watch a man while he's dying. Maybe the term "systemic" is the appropriate one when discussing and analyzing the thickness of the thin blue line in America's police force.
This is after the evidence and the coroner's report showed that this young Black man's death was very suspicious and it is very unlikely that he could have killed himself. And of course, the policeman's union is fighting back by "dropping" extremely fictitious stories about Freddie's life, police record, and overall behavior after his arrest.
Now, they are coming after Ms. Mosby, the young District Attorney whose mother and grandfather were career Boston Police Officers. Ms. Mosby is also married to Nick Mosby, the councilman who represents the district where Freddie was murdered. To add more fuel to the fire, Ms. Mosby is also tight with Freddie's family attorney Mr. Billy Murphy, who donated
$ 5,000 to Ms. Mosby campaign for office.
Mad Man is proud of Ms. Mosby for coming out with her no nonsense and don't "buck" with me attitude for many different reasons, but the best one is "welcome to the game girl!" You have now joined the political game that white men have been playing forever. You are connected and you have skeletons in your closet that the corporate and the policeman's union will use against you in their efforts to divert the emphasis away from the truth.
Sidebar: Isn't it interesting that the policemen's union is asking Ms. Mosby to recuse herself due to a conflict of interest when the white District Attorney in the Michael Brown case in Ferguson was not asked to recuse himself after it was revealed that his father was killed by a Black man. Sure there was a very placid mention of Bob Muculloch recusing himself but nothing like Ms. Mosby is facing.
My fellow observers, it is not often that the political elite gets a dose of their own medicine because as many of you know and some people refuse to admit, almost every politician in America, especially Republicans have so many skeletons in their closets that they could have their own private Halloween party.
Mad Man doesn't get too excited about these kinds of things because it ain't over 'till it's over but with Ms. Mosby at the helm there will be some fireworks just because she's Black and her qualifications are already being questioned by the media because she has never tried a murder case or a case involving police misconduct before and now she's going against the "THUGS" in the policeman's union and department.
We are already being inundated with subtle remarks and phrases by the corporate media. "Police misconduct". Really?!!!! The cops killed this young man. Oh and by the way, not calling it murder until they are convicted is another bit of BS that Mad Man ignores.
There are many Black people in Baltimore who are not fond of the mayor, Ms. Stephanie Rawlings-Blake and her handling of this recent incident and many more involving the beatings and deaths of Black men in Baltimore, while accusing her of being a pawn for the Democratic Party's interests in the city.
Here's what Dayvon Love, co-founder of "Leaders of a Beautiful Struggle" and a member of the "Baltimore United Coalition had to say about the mayor and other Black elected officials, who change after fighting through that cardboard ceiling above the basement of opportunity.
"Ms. Rawlings-Blake capitulated to the corporate structure of the Democratic Party in Baltimore. What happens in our society at large and often times individual Black people are put into positions of power and leadership in a white controlled and dominated institution. This brings more Black people into these institutionalized arrangements which undermines Black people's ability to develop a kind of communal and independent institution as a basis of our work.
Mr. Love continues: "Ms. Mosby was elected by the people for the sole purpose of prosecuting law enforcement officials and she didn't get the same kind of corporate support. She was outspent 4-1 by the incumbent, but she was able to get the grassroots support that she needed and I think that this kind of gives her an idea of the support that she has behind her. People reduce racism to individual people. White folks in leadership, Black folks who succumb to white folks. Baltimore shows the sophistication of white supremacy in how it operates."
There is a long list of charges against the six officers and the people of Baltimore and the rest of the country will be watching this case very closely. Sooner or later, somebody, somewhere, will get all of America to see the truth about these senseless murders of Black men and how ironic will it be if this young, aggressive, unvarnished mother of two comes to the rescue of Freddie Gray. And besides, ain't that what Black women have been doing all of their lives anyway.
