What we are witnessing today is the continuing attack on African Americans that appears to be escalating at a very rapid and distructive pace,These attacks, partially fostered by the movement to remove the confederate flag from flying over state buildings, has taken on the appearance of the 50's and 60's with the torching of at least 5 churches, should be declared acts of terrorism by the FBI and its Director, James Comey.
I often wonder how the burning of a Catholic Church or a Jewish Synagouge would be classified if five of them were to be burned in two weeks? Would they be called "hate crimes", "acts of terror" or both?
What is happening and has been happening to African Americans over the years has been horrendously genocidal and terrifying to this well meaning and sometimes confused group of people. Many of them mean well by trying to just get along, while those who have gnawed on the bones of success that have been thrown to them by the white establishment prays that the hatred will just go away.
Of course, there is no solace for African Americans because after the murder of the Mother Emanuel Nine, President Obama's stirring Sermon/State of the Union address, and the movement to remove the confederate flag from public buildings, and now the burning of churches, this race of people is up in arms and demanding justice.
However, there is a problem in the FBI's search for justice and categorizing these offenses as hate crimes or terrorism. If the murders of the Mother Emanuel Nine were to be classified as an act of terrorism, the FBI would be legally authorized and compelled to investigate every single person and thing with whom Dylaan Roof was associated. It would be quite an interesting story to determine the results of this investigation.
Dylaan Roof is not smart enough to figure out this very calculated plan of attack, nor know how to determine if Pastor Pinckney would be conducting bible study on that Wednesday night. He didn't call the church to find out and based on his educational background he is very close to being illiterate. For you naysayers, not knowing how to read is not the only form of illiteracy.
Herein lies the problem for the FBI, law enforcement, and all of America. If these crimes are not declared crimes of terror, they may as well leave the confederate flag flying and Donald Trump, with all of the other hatemongering racist bigots alone. The racist cowards who hide behind what this flag stands for will continue to wreck havoc on minority communities as they see fit and nothing will ever happen as negative race relations in this country will continue to fly on the flag pole of injustice.
In all fairness to the FBI, there is an even greater issue affecting Americans and that is the threat of a very serious terrorist attack from within this country by ISIS sympathizers. With budget cuts and lack of manpower, the FBI and law enforcement must pick their battles and the security of African Americans is way down on the list because they don't have any economic clout, nor they use what little they have and African American leaders are not in any position to provide leadership because they want to keep their jobs.
To be honest, all of this will be business as usual because the only thing happening now and forever more is that the media is talking, and talking, and talking about the plight of African Americans, until the next big catastrophe occurs. And as all Americans are trained to do, like Pavlov's dog, they will direct their attention to the next big thing to talk about, like the women's world cup victory in soccer.
