"Till death, we will always part"

July 9, 2015 was an exciting day for Sandra Bland. She drove from Naperville, Illinois to Prairie View, Texas about 60 miles northwest of downtown Houston to take a job at her alma mater, the historically black Prairie A&M University. It is very easy to assume that this was a happy young lady with expectations of what life had in store for her. Mad Man has never known an unhappy or depressed person who had just received a new job.

On July 10, 2015, Ms. Bland was stopped by a police officer for not using her signal when making a lane change. With the exception of Ms. Bland being a female the white officer's recollection of what happened after he stopped Ms. Bland was quite common and has become an old commentary that illustrates the systemic racist attitude that permeates the minds of white policemen when dealing with black people.

When Ms. Bland questioned his reason for stopping her, the officer described her as being combative and pulled her from her car. Mad Man, nor any sane human being doesn't need to think too hard about what was going through the officer's mind. His thought was, how dare this black woman talk to me this way?

During the arrest there was a scuffle and the policeman physically pushed Ms. Bland to the ground, placed his knee on her neck while she exclaimed, "you just shoved my head to the ground, don't you care about that!"

Ms. Bland was arrested and taken to jail in Waller County, Texas  and charged with assaulting an officer. On July 13th at 9am she was found dead of "self inflicted asphyxiation." This beautiful young, hopeful woman is now dead and again, a policeman has demonstrated to all of America that "Black Lives Don't Matter."

Waller County Sheriff Glen Smith stated that in most suicide cases the family of the deceased always claims foul play when there wasn't any. The District Attorney, Mr. Elton Mathis told ABC news that "he didn't have any information that would make him think that it was anything other than suicide."

The details of this woman's death may or may not come out, especially if the DA refuses to look at the case and the family, already expecting this, has filed a lawsuit. This lady's death will probably go away after a settlement is reached and life in Waller County, Texas will go back to normal where racist bigots reside in harmony with themselves.

Mad Man feels very comfortable in making this accusation because my fellow Observers, in Waller County, Texas, they don't even allow black people to be buried in the same cemetery as whites. Let's hope that Ms. Sandra Bland is buried somewhere other than the county where she was murdered.
