Today is a Good Friday as Mad Man continues his tour of "The City of Angels". Last month, The Eli Broad Museum opened to rave reviews even though there were picket lines outside due to the public school teachers dislike for Mr. Broad's support of charter schools. But, this is a story for another Mad Man Observation.
Today is a Mad Man's Good Friday and he needs to keep his observations positive.

Eli Broad is a major home builder and one of the wealthiest men in the state. With the influence of his wife, he started collecting art years ago until his collection became massive. His collection of fine art is so prolific that the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, (LACMA), constructed a building that would be partly dedicated to displaying his collection. Mad Man was fortunate enough to work on this LACMA project.

Mr. Broad also had some of his collection on display at the very prestigious Getty Museum which is pearched beautifully on a plateau high above the 405 freeway in Los Angeles.

Like most wealthy men, Mr. Broad is accoustomed to having things his way and eventually became disenchanted with LACMA and the Getty, and the way that they displayed his art, so he built his own museum and paid $ 150 million of his own money to do so.

This honeycombed designed building is next door to the Disney Concert Hall which makes for a very unique and picturesque corner on 1st Street and Grand Blvd. in downtown Los Angeles.

There are many more new buildings being built in the city and these buildings will not only change the face of an already beautiful city, but enhance the lives of its residents. What's  even better is that Mad Man doesn't have to wait for a Good Friday to witness this progress.

Mad Man
