The Prime Minister from Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, has finally made his long awaited and publicized speech to Congress and to say the least it was filled with as much rhetoric as it could possibly contain. There was no secret information about the negotiations between the U.S. and Iran regarding nuclear weapons revealed and in all honesty Netanyahu did what he has always done when he visited the United States. He spoke to Congress about how Israel is constantly under siege by Iran, Hamas, ISIL, and every other non-Israeli group in the middle east.
Don't get me wrong. The people of Israel have every right to feel under siege because there are people in the region who wish to annihilate them from the face of the earth. But does anybody believe that his coming to the United States, while embarrassing the President, was really worth the paper on which his speech was written?
Mr. Netanyahu made the same speech that he always makes and that is to say that Israel and the United Sates share a very special bond that promotes freedom and harmony throughout the world. He even went on to tell everyone how much President Obama and the United States Government have done for his country. Frankly, it was hard for Mad Man to stay engaged in his speech because he had heard it before. As a matter of fact, the speech hasn't changed since his last 5 visits.
What was even more ridiculous was the over indulgent standing ovations the very partisan Republican audience gave this man for saying what was basically a repeat of an old speech. Up and down, up and down, they raised and lowered themselves on Mr. Netanyahu's every remark about the evil empire Iran, and how Israel will defend itself with or without the United States. No secret revelations about the negotiations were revealed and there was no new earth shattering remarks.
What this visit and speech really turned out to be was a political campaign speech by Mr. Netanyahu
and an opportunity for the Republican Party to throw more spite filled embarrassment on President Obama. But alas, the media is running with this man's "earth shattering" remarks in its attempt to create "turmoil" among the masses while hoping to lead the ignorant faction of this country to speak out about President Obama's negotiations with Iran. Just remember that Mr. Netanyahu was one of the foreign leaders that begged the United States to invade Iraq and look what that got us.
It is unfortunate that President Obama must be subjected to yet another never to have occurred before slap in the face to the President of the United States, but what is even more saddening is the disrespect that the GOP is showing to the office. What is really an egregious crossing of the line is that this Congress is now recruiting other political leaders to engage in their very despicable game of demeaning an honorable man
