Before I begin my tirade about America's politicians, let's get one thing perfectly clear. The Confederate Flag, as flown in America, stands for nothing but hatred, bigotry, racism, and nothing else. It should be as vile and insultingly offensive to all Americans as the swastika is to the Jewish people.
Furthermore anyone who thinks that this flag has any redeeming value, except for historical embarrassment, is nothing but a racist pig that wants to continue to perpetuate a way of life in America that no longer exists.
But America's politicians, both Democrats, Republicans, Independents, and whatever other party is out there allows this flag to exist to placate the racist bigots that vote for them. Mad Man also wonders how many of these politicians actually believe in this flag and the despicable history that it represents?
As intelligent and civilized Americans we all should know what this flag really stands for, yet our politicians keep giving the racist bigots in America a pass in allowing this very, very negative piece of shit fabric to fly in public places and even over buildings that are supported by the very people that this flag denigrates.
Black people, in their discussions about racist white people have a phrase that is quite common. It's quite funny but sadly true. The phrase goes like this. "White people believe that Black people are so stupid that they can pee on them and tell them that it's raining."
When discussing the confederate flag this phrase pertains to many Americans as well because they continue to allow it to fly over their country while being supported by the underbelly of those individuals in their society that refuses to accept the fact that the constitution has declared that all men and women are created equal and have certain inalienable rights to freedom.
This flag has survived because White and Black people have been avoiding a hot topic for 200 years and the subject is race. White people are afraid of being accused of being racist for what their ancestors did and Black people cannot maintain a level head when discussing race. In other words, they get pissed off and start name calling and pointing fingers and yes, blaming white people for all of their failures. The confederate flag represents America's failures and not the failures of one particular race.
But, a real serious baby step towards racial harmony in America would be to remove this flag from any public space and Nikki Haley, the governor of South Carolina is finally moving to make that happen. Her comments were that "the flag should be removed from public spaces and placed in a library but anyone can display it on their private property".
I love this idea because the bigoted cowards in America can no longer hide their racist feelings. If you don't like Black people and the direction that America is going, plant this symbol of racism in your front yard for the world to see and be a man!
It took nine Black people to be gunned down by one ignorant, cowardly, and hate filled bigot to cause these politicians to consider making a change. But let's not get it twisted, Wal-Mart, Sears, Amazon, and every religious organization in America has condemned this flag and what it represents, so the political cowards that run this country gets no slack from Mad Man.
They are still some of the most despicable human beings on the face of the earth because they really know what this flag represents and have done nothing to alleviate its impact on our society and it took a terrorist attack on nine Black people in a church to cause them to reconsider their stance when this, my dear observers, was a no brainer from the very start.
