Ronald Reagan

As Mad Man continues to get "caught up" in the theater of the absurd called "The political campaign for President of the United States" it is to say the least, quite entertaining, frustrating, and scary.

If I hear another Republican candidate compare themselves to and speak about how great a President Ronald Reagan was, Mad Man is going to throw himself on the railroad tracks and allow himself to be spilt into 3 pieces by the Donald Trump bullet train.

In this observation I am not going to discuss President Reagan's trickle down economic policies where he approved tax cuts that were supposed to give corporations extra money to hire more employees. Of course, this legislation which has been deemed and proven laughable by every economist in the world, simply allowed the corporate giants to take this tax relief bonanza and move production to other countries where the labor is cheap and the taxes minimal.

Today's Republican candidates also laud Mr. Reagan as a union busting super hero because he demolished the Air Traffic Controller's union, fired all of their employees and re-hired less than half of them back. The men and women in this profession are on pins and needles, suffering from fatigue while trying to manage the largest volume of air traffic in the history of the country.

The FAA recently ran a study to determine the condition of Air Traffic Controllers and the following are some of their findings:

 1. 3,268 people took an online survey of fatigue factors, and more than 200 participated in a field study using wrist monitors.

2. Controllers in the field study got on average, 5.8 hours per day of sleep during the work week, but the hours of sleep dropped to 3.25 for controllers working the midnight shift.

3. 70 percent of those working the midnight shifts said that they had caught themselves "about to doze off" while working.

4. 18 percent of respondents said they had been involved in an operational error at work, and 56 percent of those involved felt that their own fatigue had been a contributing factor.

Furthermore there have also been recent incidents where the pilots of planes landing at an airport had to land themselves because the controller who was responsible for handling that flight was asleep.

An even more egregious act of merciless and unmitigated greed to benefit the wealthy was the closing of all state run mental health facilities by totally eliminating their budgets. This put thousands of mentally ill people on the streets and more alarmingly, in America's jails and prisons.

Law enforcement professionals are not equipped or trained to handle the mentally ill or handicapped individuals which puts undue pressure on them because they are working out of their area of expertise. Now, it appears that some cities are recognizing this and trying to remedy extreme miscarriage of justice by building jails that deal only with the mentally impaired.

Like the air traffic controllers, Mad Man is just totally worn out, run down, and pissed off at these Republican bastards with their mantra of "I got mine and you can get yours" while at the same time depriving certain people in our society of their rights to be successful. Okay, I'm getting carried away now because these comments lead to an array of topics that should not be included in this observation.

Wake up America! The next time that you hear a Republican candidate praise Ronal Reagan, while comparing himself or herself to him, scratch them off of your list and wait for the next Reagan ass kisser to chime in. Eventually you will get to Donald Trump and if he is the Republican candidate for President of the United States and running against Hillary Clinton, what a glorious theater in the absurd this would be.

Mad Man
