Greetings my fellow observers,
Alright ladies, get your weapons ready because Mad Man is going to take you on a trip when he asks the question that many men are asking........................ "Now that the movie Straight Outta Compton has been released while receiving rave reviews, what is the real purpose of the media and these women that accused Dr. Dre of abusing them?"
I doubt that the slapping of hip hop journalist Denise "Dee" Barnes by Dr. Dre over an article she wrote after her interview with Ice Cube after the breakup of NWA, will stop the momentum of this excellent film. So why is it so important to discuss this after all of these years? Ms. Barnes wanted the incident referenced in the movie, but didn't want to see her getting slapped. Mad Man has a suggestion. Ms. Barnes, make your own movie and tell your story anyway that you wish.
What has Ms. Barnes been doing? Of course, Mad Man does not condone any violence against women but to attempt to undermine the success of this movie with something that happened years ago with a man who admits his mistakes and matured, is rather unjust.
Is this woman trying to get 15 minutes of fame and rekindle her career or is she looking for money to be quiet?
Ladies, get pissed if you want, but we all know that these thoughts occur everyday in situations such as this and Mad Man is just trying to keep it real. Many men have made mistakes with women and the question is; how long do they have to continue paying for them?
Ms. Barnes is now experiencing a failing career as a hip hop journalist. She won a settlement against Dr. Dre which makes it even more suspicious that she is bringing this story forward. She is no longer in the hip hop industry and working 9-5 which makes her rehashing of this incident sound even more like sour grapes.
If this is the case, why would Ms. Barnes want to rain on the parade of this movie unless she is still smarting, not from being slapped, but from the fact that her career as a rapper died while NWA's has blossomed into Straight Outta Compton.
Mad Man
