Over the top liberalism

Greetings My fellow Observers,

This past Saturday, I watched Joy Reid, who was filling in for Melissa Harris Perry on her show. The discussion topics were brisk and current, ranging from "Black Lives Matter", to the continuing efforts by the Republican party to reduce the rights of minorities to vote.

One of the topics that caught Mad Man's attention was the discussion of the fact that the State of California is saving $ 100 million dollars by paying men in prison $ 1.00/hour to be on the front lines in its efforts to fight forest fires.

On hearing and watching the discussion,  which was quite sympathetic with the prisoners, I thought to myself...... what an over the top brand of ridiculous liberalism !!!!!!!!

They related this firefighting method to slavery and anti-human methods of employment. Also discussed was the unwillingness of the legal system to allow these prisons to use this opportunity to train some of these inmates for future jobs as firemen.

These are men who were convicted of committing crimes against society and therefore should not be paid for their labor at all. Yes, African Americans are disproportionately incarcerated, so let's not get too carried away with the "Black Lives Matter" discussion. We should work to prevent our legal systems from over prosecuting African Americans. 

One of the panelist wrote a dissertation on this method of firefighting and it is beyond me how this topic can even get any traction at all. I guess that MSNBC and Joy Reid didn't have another Black person who was killed needlessly by a cop to discuss.

Unfortunately, it is what it is and when you are incarcerated, you lose all of your rights and being placed on the front side of a fire fight with 400 degree blazes roaring at you might be a good way to scare some these convicted felons straight.
